Q: What is a stylist?
Well, aside from being perfectionists and wizards with string, it’s the role of a stylist to design all the visual elements of an event. Bee and I do this by really listening to what people want, taking their thoughts and visions and turning them into reality. Whether it’s your wedding day, milestone birthday celebration or a dinner party we can help by taking all those individual details (and there can be quite a lot of them) and making them fit beautifully and seamlessly together. We ask people to close their eyes and imagine – and that is what we work so hard to create.
Planning a wedding or any big event can be daunting, there is so much inspiration noise out there, we help couples pinpoint what it is they truly want. We can unravel lots of little ideas and turn them into one workable theme that flows and blossoms throughout every part of an event.
Q: What exactly can you do?
What don’t we do! You don’t have to be a celebrity to have an event stylist nor does it have to absorb your entire precious budget. We can do as little or as much as you want. Our job is not to take over, but to help bring dreams and Pinterest boards to life. We can dress an entire venue from top to bottom, we can do your flowers or we can just make our props available.
Big or small we don’t mind. We can pop round and dress your table for a special dinner party or create a romantic backdrop for a proposal. We have the vision and lots of cool stuff that can transform a blank canvas into an exotic Indian summer affair or a fairytale woodland party. We can go from industrial to French vintage.
Q: Why do I need a stylist?
Organising an event is very time-consuming and often, and you’ll know this even if you’ve just had people round for dinner, it can be pretty stressful. Sometimes what started out as being fun turns into an endless list of tasks. We can keep you focused on the right places to spend time and take the stress away, meaning you can actually enjoy yourself.
When it comes to weddings, couples can miss out on spending time with the very people they can’t wait to see. They get so busy organising or setting up that they miss out. We make sure that doesn’t happen.
Q: What areas do you cover and where do you keep all your props?
We’re very flexible in terms of the locations we can cover – Fife, Perthshire and most of Central Scotland – we’re good at map reading and happy to travel!
We’ve been banned from keeping everything at home – so we now have three different prop stores to house all our treasures. We can’t throw anything away you never know what theme you’ll be working with next.
Q: Do you have a little black book of suppliers?
Yes, we’ve worked with some amazing suppliers, we’re happy to make introductions.
The wedding community is really strong in Scotland and we’ve met so many lovely people. Everyone is so supportive.
